The military was one of the first consumers of Prefabricated Buildings. It makes greater sense for the military to use these buildings because they are not only portable and relocatable, but are also easy to erect in a short span of time. No wonder the defense sector is using Prefabricated Buildings for bunkers, guard posts, barracks, hospitals, hangers, bungalows, shelters, tents, canteens, office space, kitchens, refugee houses, prisons, command centers, storage areas, vehicle workshops, maintenance structures, bridges and more.

Unlike any other prefabricated structure, military buildings are specifically made from lighter materials to achieve easier transport and handling. Most of the Prefabricated Military Buildings would have steel or aluminum frames, but synthetic material for walls and roofs. In cases where shielding from the enemy is required, a combination of both metal and cloth materials is used to provide enhanced security. Also, Prefabricated Military Buildings are specially designed to attain very rapid erection using minimal tools and manpower.

For military use, there are some unique walls and floors available in the prefabricated segment. If they need to install perimeter security and defense walls, they are offered prefabricated walls in galvanized steel lined with non-woven polypropylene geotextile. These can be filled with locally available fill material to quickly construct security walls to provide protection. For flooring, which can be required in military hospitals, bathrooms and storage spaces being built in remote areas, there are plastic flooring systems that come with locking facilities and provide rapid assembly and considerable strength. They can be erected on grass, soil, sand, mud, concrete, wood or ice. All such Prefabricated Military Buildings can be procured from defense suppliers, Prefabricated Building manufacturers or through the Internet.
