|
|
Scenario:
Recently you had clear water seeping through your walls all around the basement. It didn't come in fast, but it kept coming in. You've noticed this after the yard is saturated -- say after several inches of rain. Water drains away from the front yard. The problem is in the back yard. You suspect the tile drain clogging somewhere away from the house, and the water backing up and coming in the basement. The tile allows the water to travel all around the basement. It then seeks the least resistance, and comes through the walls.
So you dug along the basement wall in the crawl space and found the tile. You want to tap into that tile and put a sump pump there. Does this sound like a solution to the seepage?
Possible Solution:
One option is to install a sump pump to drain the exterior drain. The only problem is that you don't know where the pipe is clogged and if it is clogged in just one place or several. Some of the water may not drain around to where you locate the pump. This is generally why people install interior systems.
