Question:
Is there a way to control the rising lake or pond water level (i.e. it's effect on the local water table) during the spring snow melting and rain. Say you have 2 sump pumps running but still have a couple of inches of water. Are there any types of pumps that can keep up with the rising water? This only lasts a couple of days until the heavy rains stop. The house is only a few years old.
Answers:
Obviously, there's not much you can do about mother nature or a rising lake. That is what comes with living close to the shore or lakes and rivers.
There are always bigger pumps but it comes down to having a drain system that collects the water and brings it to the pumps. Where does the pumped water drain? And what is going on with the downspouts and grading around the home?
One waterproofer uses a foot of 3/4 ton crushed stone under the slab and 2 sump basins. The grading pitches well away from the foundation as well as the gutter downspouts. |
